Many potential visitors are wondering when is the best time to travel to Siurana. Like all climbing people, you are always looking for the perfect combination of little precipitation, a lot of sun but not too hot. Fortunately, these conditions are very common in the area around Tarragona and Barcelona.

January and February: A few years ago, the first two months of the year were always the coldest and most unstable. Perfect to climb really hard routes, but it may also be that it gets really unpleasant and windy. In the last three years, however, a very stable high-pressure area over northern Spain has always settled and gave us the best weather for climbing. So it is very difficult to say how the weather will be, but most of the time you will have lots of good sunny days.

March, April and May: The high season in Siurana. Good weather, a little more precipitation, but never more than one or two rainy days in a row. Due to climate change, it has been very dry here in recent years. In addition, there are also most visitors over Easter. Here we offer our climbing courses and climbing camps almost weekly.

June, July and August:

Actually, it is already too warm for the really hard routes, and you almost always have to climb in the shade. However, our experience is still suitable for beginners, especially in combination with a visit to Margalef, where there are more shady sectors than in Siurana. The advantage is that you are almost alone on the rock in these months.

September and October: late summer and early autumn – that means that we find optimal conditions again. Most often it is already cool at night, but very pleasant to climb during the day, even in the sun.

November and December: It is usually a bit rainier here, but you find a little colder conditions and have a better grip. There are already many climbers on the rocks, and you almost always have to climb in the sun. Over Christmas and New Year’s Eve we organize an annual climbing week, which is actually always blessed with perfect weather. A great time to travel to Siurana.
